Ritsumeikan University Festival 2024

School Festival

Hello! This is the University Festival Executive Committee!!

As the name suggests, we are an organization which operates the festival, communicating with people both inside and outside the university.

In 2024, the OIC Festival was held on November 10, the KIC Festival on November 24, and the BKC Festival on December 1. We will introduce you to the three festivals, which were held with the theme of “Unexpected!!!”, going beyond the expectations from last year’s festival, which survived the pandemic.

〇OIC Festival

OIC Festival marked the start of the long-awaited Ritsumeikan University Festival.

In the OIC Labo event, seminars and laboratories presented the achievements of their study, utilizing the newly established Building H. There was also the Flea Market / Fair event, which made the most of the characteristics of the campus to entertain visitors, from children to adults. We are glad that over 10,000 visitors came and enjoyed the festival.

Due to OIC being an open campus with no gates and all the buildings connected, we encountered some difficulties regarding setting up no-entry areas and coordinating with other events held on the day. Nevertheless, we were able to successfully carry out the festival in collaboration with the local community.

〇KIC Festival

The KIC Festival was held 2 weeks after the OIC Festival. The weather was quite unfortunate as there were rains here and there, but there were over 15,000 visitors to the festival! Various organizations carried out their unique events and performances, including a talk show by actor Hongo Kanata and a haunted mansion and treasure hunting game using the entirety of Yoyokan. There was some congestion as there were many food booths lined up on narrow paths, but the festival succeeded without major trouble. Thank you for coming despite the poor weather.

〇BKC Festival

BKC Festival, which concluded the 2024 University Festival, was held a week after the KIC Festival.

The peak of the festival was in the live performance by FUNKY MONKEY BΛBY’S and the BKC fireworks loved by the community, which became more gorgeous to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the BKC. We welcomed more visitors than we expected from early morning, which amounted to about 20,000 visitors (increased by 5000 compared to last year). Also, the organizations playing instruments all over the campus are a unique sight only in BKC, as it is located in a suburb. We started to arrange a parking lot inside the campus this year, but there was a significant delay in exiting the parking lot due to troubles and the number of students exceeding our expectations. We are working on the issue to improve the system for next year.

Thank you for visiting us.

In 2024, all festivals welcomed more than 10,000 visitors, totalling 46,000 visitors. We would like to extend our gratitude to all the visitors and the people who participated in the event.

One of the most significant features of Ritsumeikan University is that students take the initiative in planning and managing the University Festival. We, the University Festival Executive Committee, can only manage the festival with support from the Central Part of the Student Union, including the University-wide Events Department and RBC. If you become aware of the University Festival now or are interested in the festival, please visit the festival as a visitor or event manager! Of course, you are very welcome to join us as organizers!

We are looking forward to meeting you.
