We held the Summer Central Part Leaders’ Camp 2024!

Central Standing Committee

Hello everyone! This is Tsuneyoshi from the Central Standing Committee.

We held the Central Part Leaders’ Camp for three days, from September 2nd to 4th, 2024.

〈What is the Central Part Leaders’ Camp? 〉
This is a training session for students in the central part of the Ritsumeikan University Student Union, which supports the six pillars of the Student Union, Japan’s largest student self-governing organization. In recent years, the Ritsumeikan University Student Union has faced challenges such as a shortage of key players, a decline in awareness of self-governance, and a decrease in the characteristics of extracurricular autonomous activities. It is also necessary to respond to the integration of former self-governing organizations and the Student Union, as well as changes in social conditions.

Therefore, by reflecting on our activities as a representative student organization, we aim to create a steppingstone for continuing our active engagement, gain new perspectives, recognize the need for new initiatives, and create opportunities for challenges.

Through these efforts, we aim to conduct activities that provide greater benefits to all Ritsumeikan University students.

The training not only provides opportunities to learn about the history and basics of the Ritsumeikan University Student Union but also allows students from different departments within the central part, who have had limited interaction, to connect with each other.

Hello, this is the Central Standing Committee!

We held the Central Part Leaders’ Camp from September 2nd to 4th, 2024!

On the first day, we had the special privilege of using OIC’s Building H, Infinity Hall, to learn about the Ritsumeikan University Student Union. We learned about the basics and history of the Student Union, as well as the necessary know-how for our activities.

As a first attempt in the content, we had lectures by the Student Support Room and the Career Office, where they discussed how to address mental health and the Student Union, and the increasingly early start of job hunting and the Student Union. We are very grateful to both for taking time out of their busy schedules!

On the second day, we had an exchange with the Keio University All-Campus Council!

We went to Shin-Yokohama!

We set up several discussion themes and exchanged opinions on what is required of student self-governance in the Reiwa era.

We also had meals between the discussions! There were exchanges beyond the university, including topics related to student self-governance and other matters, and we, the organizers, were smiling throughout.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Keio University All-Campus Council for their valuable time!

On the third day, we went west to Tokyo and had an exchange with the Asia University Student Union!

Like the All-Campus Council, it’s interesting to hear about how student self-governing organizations differ from university to college!

On this day, we also exchanged opinions on what we should do in the future through discussions.

And lunch on this day was in each group!

As a mission, we asked everyone to take pictures of themselves enjoying lunch together, and the soba noodles looked delicious…

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Asia University Student Union for their valuable time!

In conclusion, that’s a brief overview of the three days of the Central Part Leaders’ Camp 2024!

The schedule was quite tight, but we believe that we gained more than we put in!

We will apply what we learned during these three days to our future Student Union activities!
